PhonePe UI/UX Revamp – Case Study for Disney+ Hotstar (4-Hour Assignment)
This case study showcases a complete UI/UX redesign of the PhonePe mobile application, undertaken as part of a design assignment provided by Disney+ Hotstar. The challenge was to rethink the interface and user experience of one of India’s most widely used digital payment platforms — within a tight 4-hour deadline.
Objective:
The primary goal was to enhance usability, simplify navigation, and modernize the visual language of the PhonePe app while preserving its core functionality and brand identity. The assignment aimed to evaluate quick-thinking design capabilities, user-centric problem-solving, and UI aesthetics under time constraints.
Approach:
Rapid User Flow Mapping: Identified key user journeys such as money transfer, bill payments, and wallet balance viewing.
UI Simplification: Reduced visual clutter and streamlined menus to create a cleaner, more intuitive experience.
Modern Visual Design: Introduced a fresh color palette, consistent iconography, and a modular card-based layout for better information hierarchy.
Micro-Interaction Concepts: Suggested lightweight animations and transitions to enhance user feedback and engagement.
Outcome:
The final revamp presented a more cohesive, user-friendly, and visually appealing interface. Despite the time limit, the case study effectively demonstrated design thinking, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of FinTech user behavior.
This project reflects the ability to deliver high-quality design under pressure and adapt quickly to the expectations of a top-tier digital product company like Disney+ Hotstar.
